Today’s picture is about shooting. At the local club where I shoot, I am the Small-bore Rifle Captain. The Small-bore Rifle Section enters postal competitions to be shot against other clubs in Hertfordshire. The leagues are graded into different divisions based on the combined average of the shooters in each team. We shoot against each team in the division twice, making a total of ten cards to shoot each season, the year is split into two seasons, Summer and Winter. Yesterday the Winter season’s stickers dropped through the door in the post. Each card must have the official sticker from the league organiser plus the shooters name and club. The Rifle Captain is responsible for sticking all the stickers onto the cards. So tonight, I had to prepare cards for two teams of four shooters and one team of three shooters, the team of the three have to shoot two cards per round (all will be explained in another picture). On the 140 cards I had to put two stickers per card making a total of 280 stickers.

Now I’m waiting to receive the indvidual stickers…………

I went to write my Blog this evening, only to find that Afrika our pedigree female Bengal cat had fallen asleep in my chair. So, Afrika is the subject for tonight’s picture. We brought her from a breeder after she had finished being a breeding Queen. The has lived with us for three years and is a very vocal cat.

I’m feeling a bit sad tonight, as today was the last time that myself and George will ever work together. Our last job was in the Highfield shop, possibly our favourite shop, so it was nice to finish off there. As usual the fantastic girls running the shop made feel at home with the usual offer of tea and cake. So George if your reading this all the best for the future.

Today picture is of three CD’s that I’m currently listening to.

  1. The Best of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Man, if you can take a listen to a track titled “Man of the World”, it moves me every time, what else could Peter Green achieved?.
  2. George Michael Songs from the Last Century, he covers some famous songs, but his cover of Roxanne by The Police is well worth a listen to.
  3. Martin Freeman and Eddie Piller Present Jazz on the Corner, the album is still growing on me.

Tonight, is a sad night for me, because I met up with a colleague from work for a beer, something to eat and a chat. Soon our paths are going to go in different directions. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to George for taking me under his wing when I first joined the Hospice, he has patiently and un-selfishly taught me everything he knows about the Hospice. The one thing that I am determined to do is keep in-touch with him.

Day three at the Steam Fair, the second day the fair is open to the public. I’ve been very busy manning the radio and chatting to the public. I managed to slip out and take a couple of pictures. I couldn’t decide which one to choose so I added a couple instead.

The picture is of another hobby or pastime it’s reading, I try to read as much as I can. It’s mainly military history. The book I’m currently reading now is First Man In, Leading from the front by Ant Middleton. Although Ant Middleton was a Special Services soldier, his main claim to fame is that he appeared in Channel 4’s TV series “SAS: Who dares Wins”. The TV series features ex Special service soliders taking men off the street putting them through the same Special Services training, to see if they had what it takes to become a Special Service soldier. I only watched the first series. The book not only tells about his life and career store, but also has motivational lessons within and at the end of each chapter, a bit unusual, but good reading for me at the moment.

Hopefully over the weekend I will be able to feature more interesting pictures, more of that tomorrow.
